Gjennom kunsten utforsker jeg aspekter ved vår menneskelige eksistens knyttet til oppvekst og sosial arv, maktstrukturer og hierarkier, utenforskap og usynlighet.

Vi mennesker defineres i møtet med andre. Gjennom dette møtet plasseres vi i et hierarki, som påvirker hvorvidt vi tildeles eller fratas plass i det sosiale rommet. Hvorvidt vi faller innenfor eller utenfor den vedtatte normalen. Hvorvidt vi er synlige eller usynliggjøres.

At noen er mer synlige enn andre vekker for meg en sterk nysgjerrighet og en trang til å forstå hvorfor det er slik. Nysgjerrigheten rundt tematikken bunner i min egen bakgrunn som arbeiderklasse. Allikevel begrenses ikke tematikken til denne fortellingen. Det finnes mange individ og grupper i samfunnet som kan kjenne seg igjen i min utforskning av mekanismene som er på spill i det sosiale rommet.

Kunsten min oppstår gjerne i en stedsspesifikk prosess. Med idéen som utgangspunkt varierer det visuelle uttrykket fra verk til verk. Valg av materiale kan like gjerne bestå av et fravær av materiale. Resultatet er installasjoner og stedsspesifikke arbeider som i størrelse forholder seg til menneskekroppen og utstillingsstedet. Arbeidene utforsker grensene mellom utstillingssted, verk og publikum.

As an artist, I explore aspects of our human existence concerning upbringing and social inheritance, hierarchies and structures of power, outsiderness and invisibility.

Through our interactions with other people, we are positioned in a hierarchy that defines whether we are granted or denied space in the social sphere. Whether we fit within or outside of established norms. Whether we are rendered visible or invisible.

The fact that some are more visible than others triggers an immense curiosity and a desire to understand the mechanisms behind our social constructs. This curiosity is grounded in my working class background. Yet my subject matter is not confined to this narrative. Both individuals and groups in society can relate to my exploration of the mechanisms that are at stake in the social sphere.

A site-specific process triggers thoughts and ideas. Therefore, each work has a visual identity of its own. Choice of materials may as well result in an absence of materials. The outcome is installations and site-specific works that in size relate to the human body and the exhibition site.
